Funeral service for William O. Berry, 82, of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Antwine officiating.
     Mr. Berry died on Saturday, November 3, 2007 in Lawton.
     Burial will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
     William was born on April 25, 1925 in Batesville, Arkansas to Leo and Ella Williams Berry. He grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Concord High School in 1942. He joined the United States Army on January 8, 1946 at Fort Chaffie. He received the Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Unit Citation, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He married Tayuko Y. Yamada on October 1, 1964 in Tokyo, Japan and they came to Lawton in November of 1966. She died in 2004. Mr. Berry retired from the Army on April 1, 1967.
     He is survived by his niece, Judy Arledge, of Hitchita, Oklahoma and a nephew, Paul Smith, of Hitchita, Oklahoma.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Tayuko; his daughter, Barbara J. Berry; two brothers, Robert Berry and Gene Berry; and his sister, Opal Westbrook.
