Funeral service for Veeva Wesley Bonar, 83, of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009 at First Assembly of God with Rev. Don Barnes, pastor, officiating.
Ms. Bonar died on May 2, 2009 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Veeva was born on December 2, 1925 on the family farm outside Stillwater, Oklahoma to Virgil R. and Grace L. (Hesser) Robinson. She attended school in Orlando and graduated in 1942 from Orlando High School. The family moved to Vejelo, California during WWII and to Oklahoma City in 1943. She sang at the USO's for Bond Drives during the war and sang on WKY with Ken Wright. She was accepted at the Juilliard School of Opera but chose to move to Norfolk, Virginia and married Francis Edgar Bonar in January of 1944. They lived in many locations with the military including Memphis, Tennessee, Miramar Navel Air Station in San Diego, California and settled in Lawton in 1954. Mrs. Bonar began working as a telephone operator for civil service at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in June of 1954 and retired on March 21, 1987. She attended St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Western Hills Christian Church, and later became a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Wilson, of Simi Valley, California; her son and daughter in law, Charles Phillip Bonar, Sr., and Leslie Bonar, of Lawton; two sisters, Virginia L. Freeman and Vicki R. Gaskins, both of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, Charles Phillip Bonar, Jr. and his wife, Nikki, Kimberly Michelle Leif and her husband, Scott, Pamela Lee Bloodworth and her husband, David, Lona Pearl Condit, Kara Melissa Tomlin, Pansy Lisa Condit, Virgilia Reynolds, and her husband, Wade, Michael Paul Bonar, and Melanie Loriane Bonar; and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Frances Lynn Eoff; and her granddaughter, Tracy Bonar.
