Celebration of Life service for Pegge M. Allen, 80, of Lawton, Oklahoma, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7th., 2009, at the Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Todd, pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Allen died on Sunday, May 3th, 2009, at her home.
Service is under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
She was born on August 19th., 1928, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Ernest J. and Bertha M. (Dixon) McCallister. She grew up and attended schools in Bartlesville, and graduated from high school there. She then attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She married Benjamin Augustus Allen on June 21, 1948, in Bartlesville. They came to Lawton in 1949 and operated Allen's Home Lumber Company until 1979 when she began working for Lacy's Home Furnishings. She then worked at Adventure Travel and later worked at Northrop World Wide Aircraft. She also worked for Southwest Eye Institute for several years and then she became the Court Librarian at the Comanche County Court House.
She was a member of the Chapter BY, P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni Association at University of Oklahoma, a former member of the Junior Service League, Past President of Willow Creek Town Home Association. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Lawton Dance Follies.
Survivors include her son and his wife, Stephen Blake and Ruth Allen, of Lawton; her daughter, Shannon Allen Scharver of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her granddaughters, Ashley Anne Scharver of Tulsa, Tina Nicinsky, of Lawton and Kirsten Jones of Lawton; five great grandchildren, Samantha Haney, Kaylee Petersen, Misty Jones, Joshua Jones, and Casandra Maxwell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or the Oklahoma Heart Association.
