Funeral service for former Fletcher resident, Larry F. Bennett, 67, of Tulsa, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Fletcher United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Mahaffey, pastor officiating.
Burial will be at Fletcher Cemetery under the direction of Fletcher Funeral Home.
Mr. Bennett died Thursday, June 26, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Larry F. Bennett was born on December 1, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Qumiby and Inez V. (Laging) Bennett. He moved to Fletcher while still in grade school and he graduated from Fletcher High School in 1959. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force serving from 1960 until he was honorably discharged in 1964. He married Roberta Jean Conrad on December 23, 1962 in Fletcher, Oklahoma. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He worked all over the United States, South America and Europe as a mechanical engineer. Larry worked for Fluor Daniel Williams Brother Engineering Company from 1988 until he retired in 1998. After retiring, he continued to work as an engineering consultant. He was a Cub Scout Leader, Assistant Troop Master for Troop 101 in Sand Springs and he coached and refereed soccer. He was a member of the Victory Christian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Fletcher United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of the home, two sons and daughters in law: Andrew F. and Beth Bennett, of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Michael C. and Leslie Bennett, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his brother and sister in law: William L. and Daisy Bennett, of Quitman, Texas; his grandson, Matthew F. Bennett, of Lawton; two nieces: Darla van de Riet and her husband, Ernst, and Stacy Garrett and her husband, Shawn; four nephews: Monte Bennett and his wife, Jan, Danny Bennett, Todd Challis and his wife, Lori, and Mark Challis and his wife, Stephanie; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ronald C. Bennett.
