Rev. Fred L. Andrews (retired)

Funeral for Rev. Fred L. Andrews, age 81, of Lawton, Oklahoma, will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009, at the Lighthouse Church of God with the Rev. Dillon Marsh, retired minister, Mt. Zion, Oklahoma, and the Rev. Delbert Hughes, pastor of Lighthouse Church of God, officiating.

Rev. Andrews died September 13, 2009, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

He was born on February 24th, 1928, in Strong City, Oklahoma, to Merrel and Edith (Archer) Andrews. He grew up in Roger Mills County and attended school there. He moved to Clinton in the 1940's. He married Wanda Bennett on July 20, 1947, in Clinton, Oklahoma. He later drove a bread truck and Pepsi Cola truck in Clinton and then they moved to California in the early 1950's.

They returned to Oklahoma and lived in Cheyenne, where he worked as a plumber. They then moved to Eldorado, Oklahoma, where he began working in the ministry and he pastored at the Pentcostal Holiness Church. In 1960, they moved to Woodward and was a pastor there before coming to Lawton in 1962. He was the pastor at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years before retiring in the 1980's. He also owned and operated Andrews' Roofing and Remodeling for several years. Mrs. Andrews preceded him in death on September 9, 1990.


He is survived his son and his daughter in law, Floyd and Marilyn Andrews of Dallas, Texas; two daughters and sons in law, Jean and Wayne Payne of Hermitage, Tennessee, and Kaye and Jim Biby of Jacksonville, Florida; his brother and sister in law, Henry and Della Andrews; two sisters and brothers in law, Faye and Ed Jantzen of Lawton, Oklahoma and Dammie and Emmett Morris of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, David Payne, Lynn Andrews, Scott Thomas, Michelle Elsey, and Jared Biby; 10 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wanda, a granddaughter, Jeana Davidson, three brothers, Emery Andrews, J.E. Andrews, E.L. Andrews, three sisters, Mae Parks, Jo Derryberry, and Kiz Jeffcoat.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, evening at the funeral home.
