Funeral service for Rev. Henry Ules Barfield, retired pastor, 97 of Temple, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at New Life Assembly of God with Rev. Tony Elkins, pastor of Abundant Life Church, Geronimo, Oklahoma and Rev. David McCracken, pastor of New Life Assembly of God, Cache, Oklahoma officiating.
Rev. Barfield passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010 in Temple, Oklahoma.
Interment will be at Cache Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Henry was born on January 19, 1913 in McCurtain, Oklahoma to Ernest and Mattie (Windom) Barfield. He grew up in Grandfield, Oklahoma where he attended school. He married Marie Hood on February 3, 1937 in Lawton, Oklahoma. They lived in Cache, Oklahoma for 49 years until her death on June 15, 1985. He work as a diesel mechanic with civil service at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for 27 years before retiring. Mr. Barfield was a pastor at Geronimo Assembly of God, Mountain Park Assembly of God, and Roosevelt Assembly of God until his retirement. He was a member of New Life Assembly of God for over 45 years.
He is survived by his sons, Mike Barfield, of Cache, Oklahoma, C. J. Barfield, of Devol, Oklahoma, and Lindy Barfield, of Cache, Oklahoma; his daughters, Dolores Wood and her husband, Al, of Devol, Oklahoma, Mickie Akins, and her husband, Jack, of San Diego, California, Rixie Milliron, and her husband, Don, of Redman, Oregon, Coweta Keiningham, and her husband, Roy, of Cache, Oklahoma, and Nina Bruce, and her husband, Bill, of Temple, Oklahoma; his sister, Viola of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Noah Barfield, of Lawton, Oklahoma; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Rev. Barfield was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marie; two sons, Robert Barfield, and Vern Barfield; seven brothers, Robert, Daniel, Harmon, Fred, Major, J. T. and Abe Barfield, and one sister, Vivian Terry.
