Funeral Mass for Rose E. Armstrong, 91, of Lawton, will be at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph R. Ross, pastor, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, officiating.
Mrs. Armstrong died on Thursday morning, February 21, 2008 in Lawton at a local hospital.
Burial will be at Fort Sill Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Rose Elizabeth McHenry was born on April 11, 1916 at Fort Reno, Oklahoma to John and Margaret Gallagher McHenry. She came to Lawton as a young girl. Her father was sixth Calvary, 29th field artillery corps, stationed at Fort Sill. She graduated St. Mary’s High in Lawton in 1937. She married Glenn A. Armstrong in February 6, 1940 at Duncan, Oklahoma. Glenn passed away August 6, 1997. She was an Army wife and homemaker. A member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post No.193 and Le Femmes Cabane No. 1138 with the 40 et 8.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Ellen Cordes, John Janda, Edward Larson, Henry Nebeling, Jr., all of Lawton, Larry Larson, of Little Rock, Arkansas, Don Maytas, of Bellingham, Washington, Maryann McLamb, of Everett, Washington, Robert Nebeling, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Thomas Nebeling, of Houston, Texas; and her caregivers: Marilis Ross and Dorothy Love, of Lawton.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, her parents; her brothers: John McHenry, Jr., James Steven McHenry, Frank McHenry, Charles McHenry, Patrick McHenry, Edward McHenry; her sisters: Margaret Ann Nebeling, Mary Maytas, Bridget Martin, Catherine Janda, and Sarah Jane Larson.
