Richard James Wyatt was called home by his Lord and Savior on October 12, 2007, in Lawton, OK.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home, Lawton, OK. A memorial service will be held at Lone Star Baptist Church, Lone Star, TX at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday October 20th, 2007.
Richard was born on November 22, 1941 in Oklahoma City, OK to Thomas C. and Anna Maria Wyatt. He grew up and attended schools in Winnsboro, TX. He joined the United States Army in 1961, serving two tours in Viet Nam (1965-1966 and 1968-1969). He was served in numerous posts, including Ft. Benning, GA, Germany, and California before coming to Ft. Sill, OK and receiving his Honorable Discharge after over 14 years of service to his country in the regular army and the Texas National Guard. He and his family then moved to Lone Star, TX in 1975 and remained there. He was employed with Lone Star Steel for several years before moving on into the trucking business, from which he eventually retired in December 2006.
He was a Christian and gave his life to the Lord at the age of 12 and redirected his life during his time in the Viet Nam war. He joined the Winnsboro Baptist Church, Winnsboro, TX as a child at the age of 10 years.
He Married Janet L. Justiss on December 1, 1965 in Mt. Pleasant, TX. They Celebrated over 40 years of marriage and renewed their vows of marriage on December 1, 2005 in the presence of their friends, family, and children.
Richard is survived by his wife Janet, his father Thomas C. Wyatt, sons Rickey Wyatt and his wife Rebecca of Cleveland, TX and Rusty Wyatt and his wife Penny of Marshall, TX, and a daughter, Celeste Beason and her husband Kyle of Daingerfield, TX. He is also survived by grandchildren Samantha McCullar and her husband Shayne of Conroe, TX, Jessica Dearing of Cleveland, TX, Amy Linville of Longview, TX, Joni and Richie Soares of Marshall, TX, and Devon Beason of Daingerfield, TX. He also has six great grandchildren: Alexis Hope Dearing, Gavin Minatree, Jaycie and Alayna Linville, Teryn Goldman and Carter Goodwin of Marshall, TX. He also has many extended family members, including Patricia Adams of Cleveland, TX, Billie Keys of Marshall, TX, Jeannean Eshragh and family of Houston, TX, Patti McAllister and family of Louisville, KY, Deborah Hall of Winnsboro, TX, and Annie Landrum and family of Mt. Pleasant, TX.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Maria Wyatt and his great granddaughter, Katrina Lee Dearing-McCullar.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Vietnam Veterans Association or the Disabled American Veterans association.
