Funeral service for Harry W. "Bill" Barrett, 79 of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Miles, pastor, officiating.
Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Barrett died on Sunday, September 21, 2008 in Lawton.
Harry W. Barrett was born on March 11, 1929 in Claysville, Pennsylvania to William M. and Ula M. (Engle) Barrett Leeper. He grew up in Washington, Pennsylvania and joined the United States Army in February of 1946 where he served in WWII and the Vietnam War. He was stationed in France, Austria, Germany, Panama, Iceland, Alaska and Vietnam. He received many awards and medals including the WWII Victory Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Air Medal, Bronze Star, Expeditionary Forces Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, RVN Campaign Medal, and the Occupation Germany Medal. He retired from the army in April of 1969. in Fort Greely, Alaska. He married Ann M. Dobbie on July 3, 1952 in Washington, Pennsylvania. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Noon Optimist Club, VFW, Masonic Lodges 540 and 367, 32nd Degree Scottish Rights, and American Legion Post 0193.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, of the home; two sons, and a daughter in law, Richard and Bunni Barrett, of Newalla, Oklahoma and Scott Barrett, of Elgin, Oklahoma; his daughter and son in law, Nanette and Randy Belicek, of Purcell, Oklahoma; and four grandchildren, Erin Nasca, Dustin Barrett, Kristin Belicek, and Kelsey Belicek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Robert.
