Funeral service for former Lawton resident, Kelvin Dewayne Anderson , 37 of Ponca City, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010 at Grant Chapel with Rev. Barry H. Spencer of Grant A.M.E. Church, officiating.
Mr. Anderson passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010, in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Kelvin Dewayne Anderson, 37 was born September 7, 1972, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was the son of Mr. Richard E. Anderson and Mrs. Anese Taylor-Anderson where Richard and Anese preceded him in death. He grew up attending Almore West Elementary School, Tomlinson Junior High School, and Lawton High School. Kelvin entered the Job Corps and received a trade and did odd jobs. Kelvin was affectionately known by family and friends as “Flat-Back” and “Kevin”. He was reared by his parents in the Lawton View Community. As a child, Kelvin attended Grant A.M.E. Church and enjoyed singing in the children’s choir and spending time with his family and friends. He will be mostly remembered for his quiet nature, big smile, and caring spirit.
Kelvin leaves to mourn: two sons, Drevon Kaywaykla Anderson, of Lawton and Xavier Anderson, who preceded him in death. two daughters, Briana Kaywaykla Anderson and Lexus Kaywaykla Anderson, both of Lawton; a very special friend, Ryan Kaywaykla and Christina Kaywaykla, the mother of his children; two brothers, Sheldon Anderson and Richard Anderson, both of Lawton; three sisters, Shermia Cherry, of Tennessee, Lanesia Anderson, and Katherine Anderson, both of Lawton; eight aunts, Robin Leaston, Lynda Bashir, Laverta Coppage, Gloria Parker, Pamela Rogers, Lois Williams, Barbara Ann Leaston, and Almarine Smith; three uncles, Lonnie Richardson, Clarence Wilson, and Prentice Wilson; one great aunt, Mrs. Faye L. Bean; two great uncles, Thomas Earl Hurd and Jimmy Hurd; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Mr. A.C. Webster and Mrs. Lois Webster, Ms. Faye Gladys Taylor; and great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd and Almeta Hurd.
