Funeral service for Gladys Dell Ishmael, 91, of Lawton will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Dave Dugan, of Cache Church of Christ, officiating.
Mrs. Ishmael passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in Lawton.
Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Gladys was born on August 13, 1922 in Davidson, Oklahoma to William Oscar and Leathie E. (Davis) Jackson. She grew up in Lawton where she attended school, graduating from Lawton High School in 1943. She married Harold Edward (Buddy) Smith in 1943 in San Francisco, California and to that union came a son, Larry Lee Smith. Harold passed away on February 27, 1946. She then married Ted Ishmael on January 2, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He passed away in 1999. Gladys was a homemaker and was a member of the 8th and Lee Church of Christ and also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Club.
She is survived by her sister, Lillie Chaffin, of Lawton; her brother and sister in law, Billy George and Margie Jackson, of Lacey, Washington; her son and his wife, Melvin "Joe" Joseph and Edith Ishmael, of Apache; three grandchildren, Lisa Ishmael, of Mesa, AZ, Jennifer and Dan Jeffrey, of Apache, Oklahoma, and April and Dr. Pete Bullock, of Mustang, Oklahoma; nine great grandchildren, Edmond Booker, III, Kimberly Booker, Dylan Rouse, Corina Davis, Tyler Jeffrey, Zachary Jeffrey, Zachary McKay, Jessica Bullock and Ryan Bullock and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Harold Smith and Ted Ishmael; her son, Larry Lee Smith who passed away on December 29, 1954; her stepson, Robert Lee Ishmael; and her sister, Grace Nell Campbell.
