Carole Louise Velas

Word has been received of the death of Carole Louise Velas, 75 of Lawton.

Mrs. Velas passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at her home in Lawton. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. 

Carole was born on November 1, 1943 in Stockton, California to Jack W. and Louise Erna (Weaver) Jones. She grew up in Stockton where she attended school, graduating from High school. She worked at Long's Drug Store as the Cosmetic Manager. She married John J. Velas on October 12, 1991 in Stockton, CA and they moved to Berlin, Germany with John's military career. They returned to the states, Lawton/Fort Sill in 1994 and to Seaside, California in 2008. They then returned to Lawton in 2017. Carole volunteered at Reynolds Army Community Hospital with the Red Cross and enjoyed sewing and make stained glass. She adored her 7 grandchildren and will be missed by her family and friends. 

She is survived by her husband, John Velas, of the home; two daughters and a son in law, Heather and Jimmy Oliver, of Avondale, AZ and Carrie Stowell, of Meridian, CA; her son and daughter in law, Chuck and Beth Stowell, of Argyle, TX; her brother, Brian Jones, of Eugene, OR; her sister, Julie Hibbitts, of Novato, CA; and 7 grandchildren, Madison, Savanna, Chris, Scott, James, Thomas and Ben. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack W. and Louise Erna Jones.
