Christine (Walker) Love

Funeral service for Christine Walker Love, 95 of Grandfield, Oklahoma, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Grandfield First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Robinson, Jr. officiating. 

Burial will be at the Grandfield Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Funeral Home in Grandfield.

Christine Walker Love was born July 28, 1924 in Lancaster, Texas, to migrant workers Noah and Rosella Walker. She had thirteen brothers and sisters. Her family moved to the Red River/Grandfield, Oklahoma area when she was an infant. She attended Turner Ward School for her early childhood education.  On July 18th, 1956 she received her Practical Nursing Certificate from the Post Graduate Hospital School of Nursing Chicago, Illinois. She was so determined to learn that she continued to pursue her education in Lawton, Oklahoma.  She received numerous certificates: Home Health Training in 1970; Personal Development in 1971; A Certificate of Appreciation in June of 1971; SMI’s ZZOOMMM Motivation Training Program in 1971; Citizen Participation Training in 1972; and from the Lawton Public School Adult Learning Center Instructional Program for continuing education in 1972.

She was saved at Neal Memorial C.O.G.I.C. in Grandfield, Oklahoma. She was a member of Bethel C.O.G.I.C. in Lawton, Oklahoma. New Hope C.O.G.I.C. in Lawton, Oklahoma. And at her passing she was under watch care at House of Prayer in Grandfield. 

She worked as a nurse at the Grandfield Nursing Home in Grandfield, as a nurse at Southwestern Medical Center and later for the city/county health department in Lawton, Oklahoma. She married Edward Love in Grandfield, Oklahoma in 1943. To this union there was born twelve children.  In 1966 they moved the family to Lawton, Oklahoma. In 1985 they returned to Grandfield, Oklahoma. She was an avid quilter, ceramic maker, gardener and she loved canning. 
    
Edward preceded her in death in June 1997. Seven of her twelve children preceded her in death.
     
Cherishing her memory is her, son Albert Love of Portland Organ, Janice Love of Lawton Oklahoma, Evylena Wallace of Witcha Falls Texas, Cornetta Love of Lewisville Texas, and Jevena Robinson (Robert) of Oak Park Illinois, five generations of grand children, with a host of other relatives and friends.
