James Don Neely, Sr.

Funeral service for James Don Neely, Sr., of Lawton will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Eighth and Lee Church of Christ with Dave Dugan officiating. 

Mr. Neely passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 in Lawton.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. 

Don was born on December 24, 1926 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Ruel Fenton and Della Florence (Shriver) Neely. He grew up in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1944. He then served his country in the United States Navy . Don married his high school sweetheart, Elva Lou Dossey on August 8, 1947 in Lawton where they made their lifetime home. Elva passed away on February 11, 2002. Don worked as a realtor in Lawton for many years. He was a great OU Sooners fan and loved Coke-Cola and Blue Bell ice cream. Don was a member of the Eight and Lee Church of Christ.   

He is survived by his sister, Betty Buchanan, of Oklahoma City, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elva; his son, James "Jimmy" Don Neely, Jr.; one sister, Delphia Rankin; one brother, Kenneth Neely; and two brothers in law, John Rankin and Arvel Buchanan.
