John Hernandez

Funeral service for John Hernandez, 72 of Lawton, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at the Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel, Mr. Wendell Prim will officiate. 

Mr. Hernandez passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017.

Viewing will begin on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. 

John was born on October 16, 1945 in Wichita Falls, TX to Victor and Cleta Hernandez. He grew up and attended school in Wichita Falls, TX.  In 1968 he married the love of his life, Nancy.  They were married until Nancy’s death parted them in 1999.  John and Nancy left Texas and made Lawton their home in 1969.  John was a homebody; he loved watching football on T.V. He was a huge Texas Longhorns fan and a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. While at home, he also enjoyed working on his truck and playing with his fur baby, Bubbles.  When he left the house it was to enjoy nature by going on long road trips in the car or camping.  He also loved spending time with his grandchildren; he especially like grocery shopping with them.

He is survived by his son, Jonathan Hernandez of Lawton, OK.  His two daughters and their husbands, Betsy and Robert Tasso of Kingfisher, OK and Angela and Richard Ezeali of Harker Heights, TX.  His sister, Susie Acosta and her husband Johnny, of Wichita Fall, TX.  His brother in law, Lupe B. Caballero of Wichita Falls, TX.  His grandchildren, Bryan Hernandez of Kingfisher, OK, James Tidwell of Lawton, Ok, Brittany Tidwell of California, Brandi Tidwell of Kingfisher, Ok and Shalee Hernandez of Lawton. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy, his parents, and his sister Lupe H. Caballero.
