Karol Ann (Walker) Mote

Karol Ann (Walker) Mote, 74, of Grandfield, OK passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 at her home.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Devol First Baptist Church, Devol, OK, with Rev. Justin Cardwell, pastor, officiating.  Interment will be in the Devol Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Gray Funeral Home in Grandfield, OK.

Karol was born in Tushka, OK September 28, 1946, to William Henry and Lorene (Lassister) Walker.  She grew up in Tushka and at the age of ten, she moved to Burkburnett, TX.  Karol attended school at Burkburnett ISD until the age of 15.  She was employed by grocery stores for several years. She married J.P. Mote on July 21, 1972 in Burkburnett, and they moved to Grandfield in 1979, where they owned J & K Foods.  They sold the grocery store in 1996, and she later worked for Coop Services for over 23 years.  Karol retired in December 2019.  She was a member of the Devol First Baptist Church.

Karol is survived by her husband J.P. Mote of the home; her son, Brett Groves and his wife Kimberly of Grandfield, OK; her daughters, Karla Powell and her husband, Greg, of Devol, OK and Lisa Johnson of Neosho, MO; her sisters,  Barbara Hofmaier and her husband, Reggie, of Yukon, OK and Ruth Jean Parker of Wewoka, OK; her grandchildren, Ashleigh Lewis, Briton Groves, Gerrad Powell, Bryson Groves, Kimber Cunningham, Jon Mote, Brennan Brown, Brittany Denton, and Brett Denton; and 15 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Lorene (Lassister) Walker; her daughter, Lynda Groves; her brothers, Larry Walker and Jay Ward; her sister, Janette Emberton, and her granddaughter, Breanna Powell.
