Lillie Nichols

Funeral service for Lillie O.D. Nichols, 90, of Lawton will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Union Baptist Church with Rev. CW Whitlow, pastor officaiting. 

Ms. Nichols passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in Lawton.

Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lillie was born on February 5, 1927 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Taft and Laura Ann (Pierce) Gaines. She worked as a live-in Home Health Care Provider and also worked at Midway Headstart. She married Alfred Nichols in 1943 in Waco, Texas. Lillie was a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union until her health failed. She enjoyed cooking. 

She is survived by her children, Laura Ann Banks, Alfred Irving Nichols, Earnest Ray Nichols, William Burney Mayes, Charles Clint Nichols, and her granddaughters raised from birth, Patricia Ann Johnson Poe and Lillie Mae Johnson; her siblings, Merle Lofits, Carl Gaines, Warren Gaines, Dorsey Gaines, and Dwight Gaines; and many grandchildren; great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; children, Lillian Nichols and Herbert Fowler, Jr; and her siblings, Viola Henson, Inez Pendarvis, Martin Gaines, Laverne Jones, Autry Gene Gaines, Charles Gaines, Pretiss Gaines, and Katie Gaines.
