Maurita "Rita" J. Wood

Funeral service for former Lawton resident, Maurita J. Wood, 88 of Fort Worth, Texas will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home with Jim Roberts officiating.

Mrs. Wood passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 in Fort Worth, Texas. 

Burial will be at Letitia Cemetery, Lawton, Oklahoma. 

Rita was born on December 28, 1930 east of Lawton, Oklahoma to David and Lucile (Edwards) Plemmons. She attended Empire School and worked for Allied Van Lines, Sadler Bookstore and 25 years for Civil Service at Fort Sill in the Finance Department before retiring. Rita married James "Jim" Wright and he passed away on November 28, 1993. She later married Melvin Wood on December of 1999. Melvin passed away in April of 2014. She was a member of the First Assembly of God for many years and taught Bible Classes for 13 years. 

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jarrod and Cindy Wright of Keller, Texas; and her grandchildren, Ethan Wright, Megan Kee and Parker Kee, all of Keller, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, James Wright and Melvin Wood; her brother and sister in law, Buford and Loretha Plemmons; and her sister and brother in law, Francis and James Kirby.
