Patricia Ann Vickers

Graveside service for Patricia Ann Vickers, 83 of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Vickers passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017 in Lawton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. 

There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Patricia was born on April 5, 1934 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma to John and Mildred (Iverson) Drummond. She grew up in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1953. She worked for a while at an insurance company and then became Lawton's First Woman Police Officer. Patricia was commissioned to the Lawton Police Department on April 23, 1966 and worked as a juvenile officer. She later was promoted to Patrol Supervisor and retired on February 9, 1987 with the rank of Lieutenant. She then worked for the Comanche County Sheriff's Department for 10 years. She enjoyed cake decorating, doing stained glass, painting, and crafting. When she was a young woman, she was known to drag race. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #98. Patricia married Jay Vickers on December 14, 1968 in Lawton. 

She is survived by her husband, Jay, of the home; two daughters and sons in law, Susan and Walter Stroud, of Lawton and Tracy and Emzla Pitts, of Comanche; four grandsons, Dusty Bell and wife, Kandi, Joel Pitts, Jared Pitts, and Jason Pitts; three great grandchildren, Aden Reece, Madeline Pitts, and Preston Pitts; and three nieces. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son,  Joey Dale Ray; and her sister, Carolyn Sue Barnhill.
