Funeral service for SFC (ret) Troy Allen Hensch, 51 of Lawton, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with Rev. Shelley Forrester, Rector officiating. 

Mr. Hensch passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma due to complications of Leukemia. 

He will be inurned at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma at a later date.    

Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Special viewing and visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the funeral home.

Troy was born on May 9, 1966 in Fargo, North Dakota to Donald Clarence and Marilyn Mary (West) Hensch. He grew up in Fargo where he attended Fargo South High School in 1984. He then After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army and served his country for over 20 years receiving many awards and medals including the Meritorious Service Medal, (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal, (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal, (4th Award), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Nato Medal (Service in Former Yugoslavia), Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver -W Bar, Army Basic Recruiter Badge with 2 gold Achievement Stars, US Army Basic Recruiter Badge, Canadian Parachutist Badge, and the Silver German Army Marksmanship Badge. Troy retired from the army on June 30, 2005. He begin his civil service career with Reynolds Army Health Clinic in Human Resources Department. Troy married Gayle Marie Roberts on June 14, 1986 in Fargo, North Dakota and they lived in many places through the military before coming to Lawton in 2001. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and he and Gayle are very active locally. Troy served as the past State Commander of the VFW. An honorable  soldier; he will be missed by all who knew him.   


He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gayle Hensch, of the home; his daughter and son in law, Ashley and Bobby Penney, of Yukon, OK; his son and daughter in law, Zachary and Ashleigh Hensch, Lawton, OK; his grandsons, Kaden Penney and arriving soon, Aramis Hensch; his parents, Donald and Marilyn Hensch, Fargo, ND; his brother, Trevor Hensch, Puyallup, WA; his mother in law, Pat Roberts, of Burnsville, MN; his sister in law and brother in law, Cheryl and Jim Penkivech, Miltona, MN; his brother in law, Mike Roberts, Horace, ND; and many other relatives and a host of loving friends.

He is preceded in death by his father in law, Leroy Roberts.
