I met Sanford back in the 80's when I was working around my college schedule and he would pickup freight for Consolidated. I couldn't count how many times, after loading a lot of freight on his truck, he'd say we deserved a soda break and then go buy 3 bottles of Pepsi from the machine. He, my coworker and I enjoyed many sodas and stories together. I remember some stories about a miniature horse...
Years later, I was working at Goodyear and I spotted him on the dock loading tires into his truck. I hustled to the nearest vending machine and bought him a Pepsi. I took it to him on the dock and said "here, it's about time I bought you one. I probably owe you a hundred more". He got a good laugh out of it.
When he was greeting customers at Walmart, I never went into the store without stopping for a few minute chat. He knew my dad too and always asked about him. He was just one of the nicest, hardworking men I met through my jobs. I regret not being able to make it to the service to pay my respects in person. He will be missed.

I met Sanford while I worked at Goodyear, He used to make deliveries there, and I would unload his truck, He was always friendly and a nice guy to talk to, after he retired from the freight buisness I would see him from time to time at Walmart. Such a nice man, my thoughts and prayers to all his family.

Although we were not close through the years you have a special place in my heart. I am sure George and Martha and mom and dad welcomed you with open arms.
