Sanford F Held, Jr.

Memorial service for Sanford F. Held Jr. ,77, of Lawton, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19th, 2018 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Chapel with Dennis Dawson officiating. 

Mr.  Held went to his peace on Friday, January 14th, 2018 in Lawton, Oklahoma.  

Sanford was born on February 11th, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio to  Sanford F. and Helen Maud 
(Houck) Held.  He grew up in Parma Heights, Ohio, before serving his country as a military police for the Army.  It was his deployment at Ft.  Sill where he met the love of his life Patricia.  He and Patricia had 41 years of happiness.  After the Army, Sanford worked for 20 years as a driver for Consolidated Freightways. His family often joked that when he retired he would end up as a greeter for Walmart, and not long after he retired from CF he did just that for ten years.  Sanford loved animal and helped his wife to raise monkeys.  Everyone loved his easy going personality and charm. He will be sorely missed.  

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of the home; four sons, Ray G. Held of Ankeny, Iowa, Brad D. Held and wife, Kary, of Pflugerville, Texas, Brett O.  Whitetree of Lawton, and estranged son, Michael V.  Held; two special granddaughters, Brittney A. Held and Jessica L. Held; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his sisters, Virginia Steigerwald and husband, Jim, of Parma Heights, Ohio, and Sandra Wilson and husband, Carl,  of Medina, Ohio; sisters in law, Beni Borders and husband, Dan, of Shawnee, and T.J. Laudette of Shawnee; special nephews,  Karl Erik Howeth, of Lawton, William Bradley Howeth and wife, Brandy, of Chino California, and James Ryan Howeth and wife, Lamoria, of Lawton; special niece, Allyson Robinson and husband, Kyle, of Prague; and a host of loving friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother George A. Held; and sister Martha King.
