Shirley Carolyn Dunn

Word has been received of the death of Shirley Carolyn Dunn, 84, of Lawton.

Ms. Dunn passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 in Lawton, Oklahoma.

No services are planned at this time.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Shirley was born on August 2, 1933 in Baltic, Ohio to Daniel and Wilma (Wyble) Kimble. She grew up in Ohio where she attended school. She married Charles Dunn and they lived in Ohio, Texas, and Hawaii before coming to the Lawton/Fort Sill area in 1967. Determined to be self sufficient after her divorce, she bought, sold and leased houses, often making it a family affair with her children pitching in to help with repairs. She also worked  as a civil servant at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for over 35 years, retiring in 2003. She loved storage auctions, always looking for that one of a kind treasure. She was self taught at anything she wanted to do and was also an inventor who was a member of the Oklahoma Inventors Congress. She never took no for an answer and also had a thirst for more knowledge. 

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Darryl Dunn and Becky King, of Lawton, OK, Christy and Tony Downs, of Lawton, OK, Dennis and Susan Dunn, of Houston, TX, and Brenda and Doug Fay, of Walters, OK; her special other for 25 years, Ray Dryz, of Lawton, OK; 10 grandchildren; her five great grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and her brother, Harold Kimble, of Ohio. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Floyd and Donald; and her sister, Norma.
