Memorial service for Sylvia “Jean” Corbett, 85 of Apache, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Apache, Oklahoma with Rev. Kerry Glascow officiating.
Ms. Corbett passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Jean was born on November 25, 1932 in Stecker, Oklahoma to Ralph and Rachel (Chesney) Iams. She grew up west of Apache, Oklahoma. She attended school in Apache where she graduated from high school in 1950. She worked for Apache public schools as a cook for many years before retiring. She lived in Germany, France, and many states in the US including Hawaii, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Apache. She loved her family, church and OU football in that order. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and her furbaby, Bandit.
She is survived by her daughter, Madelyn Corbett, of Apache, OK; three sons, Richard Corbett, of Plano, Texas, Steven Corbett, of Apache, OK and Scott and Wilma, of Elgin, OK; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Edmond Iams, Donald Iams, and Billy Iams.
