Tom Edson Bevington

Funeral service for Tom Bevington, 86, of Lawton will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. 

Mr. Bevington passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. 

Viewing will  be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Tom was born on January 12, 1938 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Robert and Opal (Liddick) Bevington. He grew up in Iowa where he attended school. He joined the United States Army at the age of 17 and served his country for 28 years receiving many awards and medals. Tom married Sylvia Vaughn on April 12, 1963. The military brought them to Lawton where MSGT Bevington retired in 1983. He enjoyed fishing and feeding birds and he loved spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, of the home; two  daughters, Mona and Laura and son in law, Henry; his brother, Richard; 9 grandchildren and their spouses, Micheal and Stephanie, Jacob, Alisha and Zebadiah, Aaron and Maleana, Andrew and Hannah, Micah, Christopher and Stephanie L., Stephanie N., Brandon and Melissa; 14 great grandchildren and counting. 

He is preceded in death by his mother, Opal; his son, Thomas; and his great granddaughter, McKenzie.
