Funeral service for William R. (Bobby) Simpson, 90 of Loveland, will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Grandfield, Oklahoma with Rev. Mickey Miller and Jim Bradford officiating.

Burial will be at Frederick Cemetery under the direction of Gray Funeral Home.

There will be a special viewing and visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 13 at the funeral home.

WIlliam R. (Bobby) Simpson died peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 11, 2018 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 90.

Bobby was born on October 4, 1927 to Frank Nay and Lydia (Amyx) Simpson. He graduated from Loveland High School in 1945. Bobby began farming at the age of 16, with his mother and brother after the passing of his father. In 1950, Bobby was drafted and served in the U.S. Army until 1952. On November 30, 1958, Bobby married Virnitia Ann Milburn. He and Virnitia made their lifetime home in Loveland, Oklahoma.

Bobby joined the Loveland Methodist Church at a young age, later transferring to the Grandfield Methodist Church. He enjoyed singing in the choir as well as serving on several church committees.

At the age of 21, Bobby joined the Loveland Masonic Lodge. Serving in various offices, he received his 65 year pin in 2014 from the Grandfield Masonic Lodge.

From 1980-2011, he served as Secretary/Treasurer for the Tillman County Water District. He spent countless hours ensuring clean water for rural residents in three counties, spanning over 700 miles of water lines.

Bobby retired from farming in 1990. His retirement years were spent on the golf course as well as rooting for his OU Sooners, NY Yankees, and Dallas Cowboys.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Frank Simpson, and sister in law Louise Simpson.

He is survived by his wife, Virnitia of the home; son, Bill Simpson and wife Gina of Tecumseh, OK; daughter Jill Simpson Pharris and husband Chris of Loveland, OK; son Steve Simpson and wife Jennifer of Loveland, OK; nieces, June McGirt of Madison, GA, Sharon Gilbert of OKC, OK, and Pam Isbell of Grandview, TX; grandchildren, Sean Simpson and wife Ruthy of Norman, OK, Josh Simpson and his girlfriend Sara McCoy of Norman, OK, Ryan Simpson of Dallas, TX, Brandt Simpson of Loveland, OK, and Sydney Simpson of Loveland, OK; two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Blake Simpson of Norman, OK.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Grandfield United Methodist Church.
