Pat was born on September 6, 1953 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Edward Claud and Clara A. (Haggard) Hunt. He grew up in Lawton where he attended school, graduating from Lawton High School in 1971. While in high school, he played football and baseball and in 1970, his Lawton High School Football team won the 4A State Championship. He then played football on a scholarship at East Central University where he was affectionately known as "Fattus". He also played as a walk-on in baseball. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1975, he  received his Master's Degree in Counseling in 1977 all from East Central University. He married Sandy Cowley on June 2, 1973 at the Beal Heights Presbyterian Church in Lawton, Oklahoma and they lived for a while in Walters where he taught history at the high school and coached football. They then moved to Noble, Oklahoma and Pat taught History at their high school and also coached football, before returning to Lawton in 1978 to teach History and Driver's Ed at Lawton High School where he also coached and mentored many young students. He was fortunate enough to win another State Championship in 1987, this time as a coach. He later was a traveling counselor and covered the Lawton elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. Pat retired in 2008 and a year later when Sandy retired, they enjoyed camping and RVing around the lakes in Oklahoma. Pat played on local summer softball leagues and enjoyed snow skiing, fishing and hunting; taking the annual dove hunt with his sons every September. Pat never met a stranger and was a great friend and his friends were very important to him as he proved many times. He was always helping someone out and he would give anything to anyone. He had a way of making people feel special and loved. He taught his sons that you are only as good as your word and he was truly a big softy. He adored his grandchildren and they adored him. He will be missed by all who knew him.
