Funeral service for Bertha I. Stradley, 88 of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Letitia Baptist Church with Rev. David McCracken, pastor of New Life Assembly of God Church, Rev. J.O. Howard, pastor, Church of God and Rev. Matt Kelly, pastor of Letitia Baptist Church officiating. 

Mrs. Stradley went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at her home at Brentwood Senior Living Community in Lawton.

Burial will be at Letitia Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Viewing will be on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Sunday, 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday until 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  

Bertha was born on September 13, 1929  in Whitmire, South Carolina to William and Lena (Ragan) Garner. She grew up in Union, South Carolina where she attended school. She worked as an inspector in a textile mill. Bertha loved to sing and sang with her brother in his band on a weekly radio show, WSPA in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was very talented and was a very good yodeler and she also sang in the church for many years. She married the love of her life, Kenneth W. Stradley on September 25, 1948 in Van Buren, Arkansas and they spent their married life at Fort Smith, Arkansas, Fort Riley, Kansas, Columbia, South Carolina, Ryan, OK,  and Lawton, Oklahoma. Mr. Stradley passed away on April 23, 2011. She worked as a sales clerk in retail department stores such as Wackers, 4-Duces Western Wear, Moore Hat Company, and Levines before retiring in 1978. Mrs. Stradley attended Bethel Assembly of God where she was a Sunday school teacher and young adult leader for over 25 years.  Bertha was a very loving kind, and encouraging person and spending time with her would always make your day better. She was very funny and quick-witted and will be missed by all who knew her.  

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Kenny and Midge Stradley, of Pumpkin Center, Oklahoma; her grandson, Kenny Wayne Stradley, of Pumpkin Center, Oklahoma; her sister, Ada Ashe, Essex Junction, Vermont; her sister in law, Joyce Mason, of Depew, OK; and many nieces, and a host of loving friends.  

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 62 years, Kenneth Stradley; three brothers, Raymond Snowden, Gene Garner, Donald Garner; her sister, Sylvia Knighton; brothers in law, J.B. Knighton, Bobby Stradley, and Jimmy Mason;  and sisters in law, Kathleen Stradley and Betty Stradley.   

Memorial contributions may be made to the Comanche County Sheriff's Department Thanksgiving/Christmas Fund at 515 SW 5th Street, Lawton, Oklahoma 73501 or to the Letitia Baptist Church Hands and Feet Ministry at 2606 S. State Hwy 65, Lawton, Oklahoma 73501.
