Betty was born on April 10, 1937 in Cache, Oklahoma to Lonnie Frank and Viola May (Williams) Gordon.  She spent her youth struggling to keep a family together through desperate times.  Betty sacrificed much of her teenage life working at a cafe and sheparding her brothers and sister through school and life’s daily chores. These times did not defeat her nor dampen her spirit.  Her will and love for family were forged in that small town and would prove to carry her through the rest of her life as wife, mother, grandmother and devoted friend to so many.

Betty was married to her husband Doug on September 18, 1961 in Sweetwater, Texas. They were married for 51 years before Doug passed away at their home in Lawton in 2013.  She was the loving and devoted wife of a Soldier who was often deployed around the world or away for training.  There were sacrifices to be made and she spent many lonely days apart from Doug while taking care of the home and nurturing their three children.

Betty was known for her ability to make you laugh and smile.  Her bright eyes and warm heart always made her family and friends feel at home.  No one could maintain a home like Betty, always cleaning and often carrying on daily conversations with a broom in her hand.  If there was one thing that Betty wanted most, it was for her family to be happy, love one another and never let their lives be defined by the circumstances that surrounded them.

Betty was very proud of her children.  Each have followed in their parents footsteps and raised beautiful families that loved each other through good times and bad and when forced to make hard decisions always put family first.  Greg, Jeff and Lisa were truly blessed to have a loving mother like Betty.  She can rest in peace knowing her dreams for her children have been fulfilled.
