Funeral service for Carrie I. Gray, 85, of Lawton will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home with Dr. Willie B. Smith of Bethlehem Baptist Church officiating.

Mrs. Gray passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 in Lawton.

Burial will be held at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK.  

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a special viewing and visitation for family and friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Carrie was born on February 23, 1937 in Madison Heights, Virginia to Henry and Carrie Lee. She grew up in Madison Heights where she graduated high school.  In grade school, she met George E. Gray and being high school sweethearts, they married on September 3, 1955. They traveled with the military to Germany and Valley Forge, PA where they started their family. They then came to Lawton/Fort Sill area where they remained after Mr. Gray's retirement with 31 years of military service. He passed away on May 22, 2005. Carrie was the manager of Jonah's Whale of a Sub and was also a homemaker. She supported her children and grandchildren sporting's events and was an avid bowler and served as secretary of the Fort Sill Bowling League. During her life she was a member of St. Elmo Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board. She was also a member of the NCO Wives Club. Mrs. Gray was a dedicated member to the Frontier Chapel and her church family. She enjoyed fishing and playing bingo, and she had a passionate love for the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team. She will be missed by all who knew her. 

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon A. King; her sons and daughter in law, George E. Gray, Jr. and Rodney L. and Stefanie G. Gray; all of Lawton, OK; her grandchildren, George Anderson, Randy and Joyce Anderson, Carrie Gray, Jacob Gray, and A.J. and Robbie King; numerous great grandchildren; her brothers in law and sisters in law, Joyce Gray, Larry and Pat Gray, Kenneth and Geneva Gray, Joyce and William Coleman, Betty Gray, Meverlene and James Smith, Everlene Davis, Eunice Ware, Yvonne Gray, Quitman Rosser all of Virginia, and Elmira Lee of Maryland; her niece, Linda Ware and two nephews, Donnie Ware and James Ware, all of Boston, MA; and many other nieces and nephews of Virginia and Maryland.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother in law and father in law, George and Rosa Gray; her husband, George; her son, Alvin Gray; her daughter in law, Renee Gray; her brother, Lawrence Lee; her sister, Minnie Ware; and brothers in law and sisters in law, James and Mary Catherine Gray, Lloyd Gray, Ronald Gray, Lawrence Ware, Patricia Rosser; William Gray, and John and Vern Gray.
