Charlene Huggins

Memorial service for Charlene Huggins, 80 of Lawton will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel.

Ms. Huggins passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 in Lawton, Oklahoma. 

Charlene was born Charlene Bobo on July 13, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee to Harry and Caranetta (Grimes) Bobo. She was from a large family and was 1 of 8 children. Harry and Caranetta taught them all love, decency, respect, and to be God fearing Christians. Charlene grew up knowing the values of family and hard work. She graduated high school and college in Tennessee, where she then went on  to marry and start a family of her own giving birth to 7 strong, decent, respected, loving, and God fearing children. She worked hard through the years to raise them properly and provide for them. Though times were hard, she did well seeing them through. To quote her "I thank the Lord that I didn't raise a single child that's in jail or a criminal, a drug addict, or who won't work. I thank the Lord that you're all willing to work and take care of yourself and I'd say that as your momma, I did well with the grace of the Lord." Charlene was very loving and supportive and wouldn't turn anyone away. In 2002 she retired from work and in 2003 moved to Oklahoma for a change of life, scenery, and to be closer to her eldest son. She spent her days of retirement here with family members, grandchildren, and new friends. Even in her passing, her return to the Lord, she's still teaching and she's given those that she touched the ultimate gift: unconditional love.

She is survived by her children; Christopher Wright (Kelly),  Shannon Lee(Julius), David Huggins(Angela), Tracy Huggins(Juantina William-Huggins), Stacy Huggins(Sandra), Kevin Huggins(Keisha), and Keith Huggins; her brother, James Bobo; her sisters, Lena Bobo and Helen Bobo; 37 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Harry and Caranetta Bobo; brothers, Harry Bobo, Jr. and Joseph Melvin Bobo; and her sisters, Joyce Crawford and Edith Lynn Eley.
