Funeral mass for Charles Preston Beller, 92 of Lawton will be at 11 a.m. of Friday September 27, 2019 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Buettner, pastor officiating.
Mr. Beller passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019 in Lawton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Charlie was born on December 7,1926 in Louisville, KY to Theodore and Barbara (Davis) Beller. The Beller family lived in Louisville, KY. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. Charlie married Mary J. Hubbs on November 5, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky. The Beller's got into the Kentucky Fried Chicken business and moved to Lawton in November of 1964. The Beller's owned and operated KFC's in Lawton, Altus, Burkburnett, and Chickasha. Charlie was very active in Lawton City politics. He started in May of 1972 as a councilman in Ward 1. Later he was a city councilman that represented Ward 6. He also served a term as Mayor pro tem. After his city council days, Charlie served on the Lawton Airport Authority from 1989 to 1996. Charlie was a devout Catholic and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
He is survived by his daughter. Dr. Mary Patricia Cupit, of Lawton; his great granddaughter, Haley Beller; his sons and daughters in law, Chris and Trisha Beller, of Houston, TX, Michael and Christie Beller, of Chickasha, OK and Charlie Beller, of Lawton, OK; his grandchildren, Kristen Franco, Jennie Beller, Charlie Beller, Michelle Lundsten, Sarah Keith, Megan Butler, Victoria Shields, Matthew Beller, Johnathan Beller, Kylie Beller and Christian Beller; and 21 great grandchildren; his brother Jerry Beller and his wife Paula of Cordyon, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved Mary, who passed away on August 28, 2016; his son, John Beller; his son in law, Rex Cupit; and his grandson, Scott Yelverton; his two sisters: Vida Whitman and Stella Llewellyn; his two brothers: Ted Beller and Ricky Ballard.
