Funeral service for Charlie "Sonny" Earl McClung, 73 of Lawton will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Cowboy Church, Hwy 62, North of Porter Hill, Oklahoma with Rev. Paul Lutz officiating.
Sonny passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Burial will be at Paradise Valley Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sonny was born on July 25, 1944 in Paradise Valley, Oklahoma to Charlie E and Helen (VanMetre) McClung. He grew up in Paradise Valley and graduated from Elgin High School in 1962. He was a Dairy Farmer for many years and was a Crop Duster for Leatherbury Aviation Company for 15 years. He married Jimmie Norene Shaw and to that union, they had a son and a daughter. He later married Bobbie Dean Newsom and raised another daughter through that union. He married Teresa Collins on May 30, 1998 and they have owned and operated Lawton Floral West in Lawton for the past 16 years. Sonny loved his family and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa, of the home; his son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Dianna McClung, of Lufkin, TX; two daughters and sons in law, Shari and Roy Rodrick, of Paradise Valley, OK and Honor and Kevin Belew, of Ann Arbor, MI; his step sons, Keith Wrape and Jason Wrape, both of Temple, OK; his step daughter, Jamie Tracy, of Temple, OK; his sister and brother in law, Anita and Don Brown, of Mission, TX; grandchildren and their spouses, Joe and Jennifer Rodrick, Geronimo, OK, Lynn and Dan Berhow, Veneta, OR, Justin and LeAnn Rodrick, Paradise Valley, OK, Jaimee and Jesus Vasquez, Houston, TX, Chelsie "CD" and Dalan Powell, Wichita Falls, TX, Cody McClung, Lufkin, TX, McKenzie McClung, Lufkin, TX, Colt McClung, Lufkin, TX, and Honesty Adams, Phoenix, AZ; six great grandchildren, Hailey Rodrick, Carlie Kolojaco, Kaidan Berhow, Mason Rodrick, Blakley Rodrick, and Alana Berhow; and many nieces, nephews, close friends, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Albert McClung.
