Cleo Harris

Funeral service for Cleo Harris, 94, of Lawton, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday July 1, 2017 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Lawton. Mr. Martin Charles Sr. will officiate.  

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. 

Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  

Reflections of Life

The angels in heaven rejoiced on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 when Cleo Harris left his earthly home in Lawton, OK to join their number in eternity in heaven.  

Cleo was born July 11, 1922 in Jackson, Tennessee to the union of John and Queen (Thomas) Harris. He grew up in Memphis and worked from the time he was 11 years old. He retired from the Light, Gas, and Water Company of Memphis in 1980 after many years of dedicated service.  Cleo was a member of the Getwell Church of Christ for many years.    

He was united in holy matrimony to Dimple Mosley on May 8, 1957 in Desoto County, Mississippi. In 2011, Cleo and Dimple moved to Lawton to be near their son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Paulette Harris, who were their caregivers, along with Mr. Harris' great niece, Deborah Mullins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Queen Harris; his wife, Dimple Harris; his son, Leo Harris; and his brothers and sisters. 
 
He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons Larry Harris (Paulette) of Lawton, OK and Gary Harris (Pamula) of Jonesboro, GA.; one daughter Anita G. Charles (Martin) of Hyattsville, MD; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Harris (Towanna), Damon Harris (Teresa)  Adrian Harris, Danika Harris, Janeil Broady (Courtney)  Kayla Harris, and Martin Charles Jr., and 11 great grandchildren; Dominique Turner, Jiovanni Brown, Destiny Harris, Jeffrey E. Harris, Tre’Vion Harris, Jaylyne Harris, Donovan Moore, Alexia Moore, Jackson Harris, Baylor Harris, and  Michael Harris-Timms; along with a host of nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and other relatives and friends.
