David W. Jones

Funeral service for Pastor David W. Jones, 70 of Lawton will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at New Light United Methodist Church, Lawton, Oklahoma with Rev. Kiyoung Jeong, pastor officiating.  

Mr. Jones passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 in Lawton.

Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and viewing to continue on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 
  
David was born on December 17, 1948 in Casper, Wyoming to Donald Jones and Caroline (Obert)  Rossin. The family lived in Wyoming, California, and Nevada. David graduated from high school in Las Vegas, Nevada. He also received his Bachelor's Degree in Sociology at Cameron University. He joined the United States Army and served his country in Korea and Vietnam. He received many awards and medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Overseas Service Bars, Expert Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar (M-16), and Army Reserve Commendation with Oak Leaf Cluster. David married Jeanie Park on February 25, 1972 in Seoul, Korea. After the military, David worked for Civil Service where he managed the Airfield Radar Systems before retiring. He later was the pastor at Hulen United Methodist Church, Manitou United Methodist Church, Tipton United Methodist Church and the New Light United Methodist Church. He also worked at the Tillman's County Sheriff's Department as the Chaplain. He was a member and Co Pastor of New Light United Methodist Church in Lawton.  He enjoyed marksmanship, hunting, and serving in various missions to assist others.  

He is survived by his loving wife, of 47 years, Jeanie, of the home; his daughter and son in law, Michelle and Wesley Boren, of Murphy, TX; his brother and sister in law, Donald and Dorothy Jones, of Biloxi, MS; two sisters, Catherine Matlock of Bakersfield, CA and Margie Williams, of Douglas, WY; his half brothers, John "Chip" Jones, of CA and Michael Jones, of OR; his step brothers, Robert Rossin, of WY and William Rossin, of WV;  grandchildren, Magdalynne Boren and Scout Boren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Jones; his Mother, Caroline Rossin; and his daughter, Denise Jones.
