Memorial service for Don Peterman, 84, of Lawton will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Peterman passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022 in Lawton.
Inurnment will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma.
Don was born on October 23, 1937 in Akron, Ohio to Wayne and Dorothy (Durnell) Peterman. He grew up in Akron where he attended Garfield High School. He served his country in the United States Navy enlisting in Philadelphia, PA.
Don married Rita Durkin on April 22, 1961, in Akron, Ohio. They later moved to Oklahoma City where Don worked as a Long-Distance Truck Driver until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, instilling a love of the outdoors, old-time movies, nature documentaries and one another. His warm smile, generous spirit, amazing hugs & handshakes will be fondly remembered by family and friends, alike. Later, Don and Rita moved to Lawton and were members of Holy Family Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Rita Peterman, of the home; their six children: Beth (Jeff) Davis; Terri (Brandon) Mulvany; Peggi Atwood; Wayne (Karen) Peterman; Julie (Chris) Sitton; and Coy Peterman. Don has one sister, Sue (Don) Sontag. Don dearly loved his 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
