Donald Ray Hoon

February 1, 1944 ~ June 20, 2018 (age 74)

 Funeral service for Don Hoon, 74 of Lawton will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Barnes and Associate Pastor Gary Pratt officiating.  

Mr. Hoon passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Oklahoma City.

Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.

There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Don was born on February 1, 1944 in East Palestine, OH to Leland and Dorothy Hoon.  He grew up in Ohio.  He joined the U.S. Army in 1962.  Don served honorable for over 23 years.  While Don was stationed at Fort Sill, he met his beloved wife Linda.  Don and Linda they were married on October 14, 1972 in Lawton. They lived for a while in Germany and returned to Lawton. Don retired from the Army in 1985.  Shortly after retiring from the Army, he began driving as a long haul trucker. Don and Linda lived in Oklahoma City for 6 years and returned to Lawton in 2006. Don was a member of the First Assembly of God church.  He enjoyed playing bingo and corn hole.  Going to the lake and fishing.  Drinking Pepsi and spending time with his cat Charlie.  Don was a wealth of knowledge and loved telling folks all that he knew.  He loved his family above all else and spending time with them gave him great joy. 

He is survived by her daughter and son in law, Angela and Matt DiPirro of Lawton, his son and daughter in law, Stephen and Ashley Hoon of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Lacey Hoon, Keagan Hoon, and Presley Hoon; his brothers and sisters in law, Richard and Janet Hoon, Russ and Debbie Hoon, Jerry and Lorrie Hoon, Mike and Kay Hoon.  His sisters, Mary Hoon, and Jean Noel; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda; his brothers: James, Ray, and Terry Hoon; and his sister Katherine Hoon.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Center of Southwest Oklahoma which is located at Comanche County Memorial Hospital at 104 N.W. 31st St., Lawton, Oklahoma 73505.
