Ellen Gardner

Graveside service for Ellen Louise Gardner, 85 of Lawton, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2019 at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  Tony Christie,Associate Pastor of First Baptist of Lawton will officiate.

Mrs. Gardner passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Services are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Ellen was born on July 6, 1933 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Fred and Mildred (Giltner) Kelton. She grew up in Poplar Bluff, graduating from Poplar Bluff High School in 1951. She married James Gardner on August 1, 1951 and they traveled extensively throughout his military service. Ellen was a barber and ran Charlie's Barber Shop for many years. She had several hobbies including woodworking, gardening, painting ornaments, raising birds and collecting and selling dolls. She adored her granddaughter, Jayme, and enjoyed the company of her three dogs. 

She is survived by her son James L. Gardner and his wife, Roni, of Lawton; her sister, Helena "Tootsie" Gardner, of Poplar Bluff, MO; her brother Dale Kelton and his wife, Dorothy, of Springfield, IL; her granddaughter, Jayme Gardner, of Columbia, MO; and her niece, Brenda Gardner, of Los Angeles, CA.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James M. Gardner; her parents, Fred and Mildred (Giltner) Kelton; and her two sisters, Barbara Kay and Virginia Delores Kelton
