Elma Ruth Myers Malone

Funeral service for Elma Ruth Myers Malone, 85, of Lawton will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delbert Hughes and Rev. Erma Pregler officiating.

Interment will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday March 19, 2019 from 10 A.M. to 9 P.M. and on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 8 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. 

Ruth died on Sunday, March 17th, 2019 in Lawton.

Ruth was born on August 20, 1933 in Lawton, OK to Elmer and Clara Garrison.  She lived in and around the Lawton and Cache area for most of her life.  On August 12, 1949, she marred her first husband James Arthur Myers in Walters, OK.  James died in May of 1977.  On July 2, 1978, she married W.H. Malone in Lawton, OK. He died in December of 2017.

Ruth was a member of the Church of God.  She enjoyed teaching Sunday School for many years.  She also liked to share her natural gift of singing special hymns.  She centered her life around her family.  She made sure all her children were raised in the church and worked hard teaching them by her example.  She instilled in them that God would always be their source of strength and wisdom.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Varkey, the administration, the nurses and the staff at McMahon Tomlinson Nursing Center for the outstanding care and support our Mother received during her two years of living there.  Ruth loved everyone there and considered the residents and all who cared for her as part of her " Church Family".  We also want to give a special thanks to Reverend Bill Bone and music director Bill Tenis who provided  worship services every Sunday morning for the residents at McMahon Tomlinson.  We also want to thank the Comanche County Memorial Hospice team for the wonderful comfort care that was given to our Mother during the last few weeks of her life.  Everyone's efforts and care are greatly appreciated.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Mazie Watson, of Lake Jackson, TX, Sarah Murphy and her husband, Kevin, of Geronimo, OK, Jim Myers and his wife, Phyllis, of Cache, OK, Erma Pregler and her husband, Raymond, of Tulsa, OK, Karen Insalaco and her husband, Stephen, of Benson, AZ, Gail Dixon and her husband, Chris, of Cache, OK and Reana Guthrie and her husband, Ned, of Oklahoma.  She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren;  twenty seven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; as well as a host of cousins; nieces; nephews; and her beloved dog, Buddy.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; her sister, Wilma Nebel Clark; her brothers, Elmer (Jr.), Woodrow, Kenneth, Alan, and Charles Garrison; her Grandson, Jamie Jackson; and her Great Granddaughter, Gracie Hope Coates.
