Funeral service for Garland L. Clark, 86, of Lawton will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Daniel Litchford officiating.
Mr. Clark passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at his home in Lawton.
Burial will be held at Letitia Cemetery, Lawton, OK.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Garland was born on December 26, 1936 in Amarillo, Texas to Lee Roy and Alma Marie (McCaig) Clark. He grew up in Lawton where he attended school, graduating from Lawton High School. He then served his country in the United States Air Force before returning to Lawton where he married Kay Crowley on June 1, 1959. To that union, four daughters were born. Garland worked for the Comanche County Tax Assessors Office and later would become the Tax Assessor for Comanche County where he worked for many years. He and Kay owned and operated Edna's Pet and Flower Shop in Lawton. He then worked for Mable Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud, Oklahoma as a correctional officer retiring with the rank of Captain. Garland served as a Mason with the Lawton Lodge #183.
He is survived by his daughters and spouses, Sondra and Chuck Potts, Deborah and Armin Brantley, all of Lawton, OK, Pamela and Gary Thomas, of Cache, OK and Kimberly and Raul Giacoman, of Frisco, TX; his grandchildren and spouses, Rusty Fraze and Melissa Williams, Holly Thomas, Tamara Wibbing, Gary Lynn Thomas, Jr. and Frances Simison, Geoffrey Giacoman, Jessica Giacoman, Martina Potts and Marcel Wagner, and Jennifer and Matt Barta; his great grandchildren, Brayden Wibbing, Gary Lynn Thomas III, Avery Philpot, Asher Philpot, Addison Philpot, Aiden Philpot, Lane Williams, Colton Williams, Anastasia Potts, Emily Potts, Charlotte Potts, and Oscar Potts; and his nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kenneth Clark; and his aunts and uncles.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the Comanche County Health, Shelly Trim, Linda Isham, and Kim Lindsey... his "Angels on Earth" and Comanche County Hospice, Gloria "Little Bit" Gettens, Tiffany Hogg, Esther Ruckman, Cindy Harper, and Daniel Litchford for their care for our loved one during this time.
