Gilbert K. Kaikainahaole

November 23, 1925 ~ January 9, 2021 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Tribute

Gilbert K. Kaikainahaole went to his heavenly home on Saturday, January 9th, 2021 at home surrounded by loved ones.  There was a private family burial at Post Cemetery, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. 

Arrangements are being conducted with Lawton Ritter Gray  Funeral Home.  

Gilbert was born on  November 23, 1925 to John M. and Hattie (Schutte) Kaikainahaole in Oahu, Hawaii.  He served his country with honor and distinction for over 22 years. He was stationed  in Hawaii,  Japan, Oklahoma, Korea, Germany, two tours in Vietnam, and Louisiana, retiring in September of  1973. After his service to his country he worked and retired from Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Lawton. Gilbert also worked briefly for Cameron University.  He was a joyful spirit at heart and was the life of the party. Gilbert loved to host luaus in his backyard and would be the first one to welcome you and never knew a stranger. He was an active member at Letitia Baptist Church serving as a greeter, member of the choir, handyman, and a member of the men's breakfast club.  Gilbert was a loving father, a faithful husband, devout Christian, and a true friend to all that knew him. He will be well remembered and sorely missed.  

He is survived by his devoted companion and dedicated caregiver, Gertrud Wolf, of Lawton; son, James (Kimo) Kaikainahaole of St. Petersburg, Florida; hanai daughter, Leilani Sordillia of California; step sons, Jerry Killian, of Lawton and Larry Killian; an abundance of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews; and a host of extended family and dear friends.    

He is preceded in death by his first wife Mary E. (Kamoe) Kaikainahaole; second wife Wanda (Killian) Kaikainahaole; his loving parents; brothers, Christopher and John Kaikainahaole; sisters, Harriet Waiolama, Lydia Kaopuiki, Esther Leong, Maryrose Chung, Mary Kaikainahaole, Joan Kaikainahaole, and Betty Lou Chun; son in law, Virguson Sordillia.
