Funeral service for Harold Miller Davenport, AKA Dave or Ducky, 78 of Lawton, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma.
Mr. Davenport passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019 in Wichita Falls, TX.
A special viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dave was born on February 27, 1941 in Madison, TN to Raymond and Carolyn Davenport. A Vietnam Veteran, joining the US Army at age 17, he served with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. Wounded in combat, Dave was a recipient of many medals including a Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal Two Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, German Marksman Award Bronze, Army Commendation Medal First Oakleaf Cluster, to name a few. He was also stationed in Alaska, Germany, Hawaii and other places in the US. After retiring in 1983 at Ft. Sill Oklahoma. He drove Semi- trucks cross country for many years. While he loved hanging out at the bars with friends, Dave aka Ducky, along with his wife Phyllis, was also an avid pool and dart player ,two stepper, all around cane raiser , a proud redneck and one tough son of a gun. He also enjoyed gardening, model trains, home improvement projects and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his sons: Michael Davenport and Eric Ekberg; daughters: Chaunice Davenport, Bronwen Dusek and Tonja Ekberg; his brother and sister in law, Danny and Vicki Davenport; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and many friends and relatives
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Justus “JD” Powell.
