Homer A Smith

Memorial service for Homer A. Smith, 79, of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Doug Passmore of First Baptist East will be officiating.

Homer was born on August 27, 1939 in Plainview, Texas to Harvey and Allie Smith.  Homer’s family moved to Fletcher, OK when he was nine years old.  He graduated from Fletcher High School in1957.  He then went on to attend Cameron University.  After University, he began working for the Lawton public schools (LPS) as the Director of Transportation Maintenance.  He retired in 2003 from the LPS.  He was very active in youth sports; coaching basketball, football and baseball.
He is survived by his sons: Darin and Johnathon Smith.  his daughters in law Berenice and Pamela. his sister, Barbara Baughman; his brother, Jack Smith; his half sisters: Kathy Smith, Betty Mullenix, and Juanita Badger; and his grandchildren: Victoria, Connor and Katniss.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, David; his brothers: Harvey and James, his sisters: Geneva and Lavetta; and his half sister, Dorothy.
