Imogene North

Imogene North, 92, passed away in Arlington, TX on Tuesday July 14, 2020.

Due to COVID-19, a private graveside service will be held.
 
Imogene was born on February 19, 1928 to Jesse and Lula Mae Bell in rural Montague County, TX.  Her family moved to Duncan, OK where she grew up and graduated from Duncan High School.  Shortly after graduation, she married Novis “Chris” North of St. Louis, MO. Chris was a Soldier in the U.S. Army.  Chris and Imogene traveled the globe together while he was in the military.
They really enjoyed living in France and Denmark.  Imogene and Chris divorced in 1963 and she never remarried.  Imogene worked for many years as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell and AT & T.  She retired from the phone company in May of 1992.  Imogene loved to read and watch murder mysteries on TV.  She especially enjoyed Agatha Christie novels and the television show “Matlock”.  She also dabbled with oil painting.  She was known to stretch a dollar further than anyone could and loved to tell stories about the shenanigan’s that she and her siblings got themselves into “back in the day”.

She is survived by her daughter: Valerie Sands; her great grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Joshua Alvarado; her brothers: J.J. and Jerry Bell; and her sisters: Ellie Brown and Jearldean O’Donnell.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son: Christopher Daryl North; her granddaughter: Dinisha Alvarado; and her sisters: Inez Gilbert and Corinne McMechan.
