Jacqueline "Jackie" L. Chavis

December 14, 1961 ~ May 4, 2019 (age 57)

Funeral service for Jacqueline L. "Jackie" Chavis, 57, of Lawton will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Rose Hill Church of Christ with Brother John Brown officiating.

Ms. Chavis passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Lawton.

Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Jackie was born on December 14, 1961 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Calvin and Janice (Broomfield) Holmes.  Her father was military, so they live in many locations including, Alaska, North Carolina, and Germany where she met Eddie Dean Chavis. They married and he was also military and they lived in Pennsylvania, Germany, Kansas before the army brought them to Lawton/Fort Sill. Jackie attended Cameron University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. She worked as a Case Manager for DHS and later worked for OU Medical Center. She liked music and loved spoiling her grandson.

She is preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Janice (Broomfield) Holmes; her grandparents, Abraham and Opal (Broomfield) Roberson; her grandfather, Robert Holmes; her former husband, Eddie Dean Chavis; her grandson, Anthony Chavis-Green; uncles, Benny Broomfield, Tommy Broomfield, Arnold Broomfield, Terry Roberson, Ronald Roberson, Ronald Holmes, Edward Holmes, William "Bill" Broomfield, and Ron Dorsett; aunts, Shirley Broomfield, Althea Roberson, Marcella Broomfield, Celeste Robinson, Hazel Broomfield, Dora Fuller, and Cheryl Little; and her cousin, Vernon Broomfield, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Ladominica Chavis, of Lawton; her brother, Vernon Holmes, of Germany; four sisters, Lesley Hobbs (Johnny) Monroe, of Lawton, Andrea (Mederic) Encalade of Triangle, VA, Meria (Greg) Hill, of Titusville, FL, and Roselyn Holmes, of Lawton; her grandson, DeNicco Chavis, of Lawton; aunts, Glenda Broomfield, Rhonda Blue, Brenda Dorsett, Alice Faye Holmes, and Jackie (Jeffery) James; grandmother, Alice Carter Holmes, of Highpoint, North Carolina; uncles, Eddie D. Roberson, and Vernon Broomfield, Sr; great aunts, Christine Brown and Dollie Broomfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of loving friends.
