James D. Cummings

Graveside service for James D. Cummings, 76, of Lawton will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

A dinner for family and friends will follow the service at the family's home at 1814 C Ave, Lawton, OK. 

James joined his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 26, 2021 in Lawton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. 

Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

James was born on September 20, 1944 in Lawton, Oklahoma to John Frederick and Ethel May (Morgan) Cummings. He grew up in Lawton where he attended school, graduating from Lawton High School in 1964. He was a skilled craftsman and worked as a carpenter and landscaper for many years. He served his Lord in the ministry and was a 32nd degree Mason. James was blessed by the best.   

He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Sherry and Robert Camp, of Lawton, OK; his sister, Helen Drennon, of Walters, OK; his grandson, Michael Cummings, of Richmond, TX; his great grandchildren, Michelle Cummings and Bentley Cummings; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sandra Cummings; two sisters, Goldie Besson and Silver Fisher; and three brothers, Carl Cummings, Robert Cummings and Bill Cummings.
