Janie Lorene Barrett

Funeral service for Janie “Lorene” Barrett, 94, of Lawton will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018, in the Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Jim Roberts will officiate.

Burial will be at Letitia Cemetery. 

Viewing is from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. and there will be a special visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.   

Mrs. Barrett passed away at her home on Sunday, June 3, 2018 in Lawton. 

Lorene was born September 15, 1923, in Lawton, OK to Thomas and Lydia (Burkett) Hinson.  Lorene grew up in the Pumkin Center area.   On March 9, 1946 Lorene married the love of her life, H.J. “Jack” Barrett.  In their younger days, both loved to go square dancing,playing cards and domino's.   From the late 1950’s until the early 1960’s, they were the owners of Jack’s Truck stop in Pumkin Center.  Lorene was a devoted wife and mother.  She was a friendly woman with a large heart; she was the neighborhood Mom and always a gracious host to all that entered her home. 

Lorene is survived by her son J.D. Barrett and his wife Lois of Lawton; her daughters in law: Brenda and Jana Barrett, both of Lawton.  Nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and numerous nieces, and nephews.  
                                                                                 
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, H.J.
 “Jack” Barrett; her sons: Ron and Don Barrett; her brother, Thomas Hinson; her sisters: Gladys “ Happy" Hinson and Mamie McCaig and her grandsons: Brian Joe Barrett and Tommy Moss.
