Jody Lynn Dreves

Funeral service for Jody Lynn Dreves, 61 of Lawton will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Letitia Baptist Church.

Jody passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Lawton.

Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Jody was born on March 31, 1957 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Frisco and Clara Jane (Knudsen) Petersen. Her early years were spent near Pumpkin Center, South Dakota. In 1961, the family moved to Parker, South Dakota  where Jody attended school, graduating from Parker High School in 1975. She then moved to Houston, Texas and worked at Hartford Insurance Company. She came to Lawton in the early 1980's and worked at American States Insurance while also working at Kirks Emergency Service as an EMT. At the time of her retirement in 2010, she was an Insurance Adjuster for Safeco. She later worked for the Comanche County Health Department. Jody married the love of her life, Alfred "Al" Dreves on December 31, 1989 and together they were Volunteer Firefighters for the Cox Store Volunteer Fire Department. After Al's passing in 2013, Jody was appointed the Fire Chief position that Al had carried for 17 years... a job that she loved. Jody was a hard working, compassionate, caring woman that people loved being around. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by three brothers and a sister in law, Neil Petersen, of South Dakota, Mark and Barb Petersen, of Minnesota, and Joel Petersen, of South Dakota; her stepson, Christopher Dreves; her step grandchildren, Michael Bolser, Stephanie Dreves, Raymond Dreves, and Darrian Conner; two great grandchildren, K'Ola Dreves and Carson Pankratz; her nieces and nephews, David Petersen, Tonya Konrad, Leah Petersen, Chad Smith, Missy Quick, Christopher Quick, Zachary Petersen, and Malinda Petersen; her sisters in laws and brothers in law, Amelia and Sean Hallam and Jeffrey and Marlene Dreves; many special friends including Laquita Crank and Brad Corley; and her family at the Cox Store Volunteer Fire Department. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Al; and her brother, Todd Petersen.
