Memorial service for Junior R. Kirby, 84 of Grandfield, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Gray Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Steven Gillispie officiating.
Mr. Kirby passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018 in Lawton.
Junior was born on April 16, 1934 in Simpsonville, South Carolina to Richard Earl and Alice (Finley) Kirby. Junior grew up in South Carolina. He joined the U. S. Army in December of 1954. After getting out of the Army he moved to Dallas, TX, and lived there for 20 years. He then moved to Maybank, TX for 20 years. He then moved, with his wife, to Grandfield. He worked hard all his life. He was employed as an auto mechanic for Garland Chrysler Plymouth for many years. After that he was employed by the City of Dallas for many years, as a mechanic. He was very neat, especially with his car. It had to be perfectly clean. Junior loved to travel. He took his family on many trips to Colorado, the Grand Canyon, Turner Falls; New Orleans and Mexico. A favorite place for him to visit was Las Vegas, NV.
Survivors include his step daughter Pamela Cherry of Grandfield, two grandsons and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Kirby and his step-son Richard Glen West.
