April 18, 1936 ~ February 14, 2021 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Tribute

Kathleen (Winbray) Morgensen went home to be with Jesus on February 14, 2021.  Kathleen was born to Milligene and John A. Winbray on April 18, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  As a child, Kathleen was a tomboy and enjoyed being active, rollerskating and riding her bike.  When the weather pushed her indoors, she could be found with her sketchbook in hand or playing Pollyanna with her younger brother, John.  The two of them would often walk to a nearby theater on Saturdays to catch a double feature.

Kathleen met Harry Austin Morgensen in 1951, at the home of her older cousin, Earline.  Kathleen was babysitting Earline's children so she and her husband could double date with Harry and his date.  Once Harry met 'Katie', he only had eyes for her.  They were married in Oklahoma City in 1956 and had two daughters, Keri and Kellie.  In 1960, they moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, and purchased the Howard & Howard Insurance Agency, where Kathleen assisted in the office part-time while caring for her girls.  In later years, she provided property management support for their real estate holdings, which she managed after Harry's death in 2007.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Kathleen maintained a passion for art throughout her life and created many original works including portraits, landscapes, wildlife and more.  Her Buffalo and Prairie Dog Confrontation painting was featured on the Lawton phone book cover in 2000.  In later years, much of her art was focused on communicating her faith in Christ.  Those works included a portrait of Jesus made into billboards and a mural and paintings which are displayed at The Lawton Christian Center, where she worshiped.

Throughout her life, she followed Jesus with an unwavering faith and gentle spirit which only deepened with time.  She found joy in her time with the Lord and sought new ways to share him with others until her last days.  As recently as Christmas Eve, 2020, Kathleen designed an ad in the Lawton Constitution featuring scriptures and a plea for people to believe in Christ.

Kathleen joins her husband, Harry, her mother, Milligene and her brother, John in heaven.  Her home-going is celebrated by her daughters, Keri (John) Schuller and Kellie (George) Reed and grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle and Laura Schuller and Rachel Reed & Morgen Mosley; great grandchildren, Jacob and Brooklyn.

A family graveside service will be held in Alva, Oklahoma at a later date.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 25, 2021, at the Lawton Christian Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawton Christian Center.
